About Tennessee Restaurant Inspections
The Tennessee Department of Health, through its local county health departments, inspects every licensed food service establishment in the state. Inspections are conducted at least twice a year for most restaurants and more frequently for high-risk operations.
Inspectors score each visit from 0 to 100. A score of 70 or higher is passing; scores below 70 trigger a follow-up inspection within 10 days. Establishments with repeat failing scores can face permit suspension.
Rat Radar pulls fresh records weekly from the state’s public inspection portal, covering all 95 Tennessee counties.
Scoring System
Scores range from 0 to 100. 70+ is passing. Below 70 triggers a mandatory follow-up. Pest or vermin violations are flagged separately regardless of overall score.
